The Family of Reverend Emer Hamvasy

Emir Bala Gyoila Garoin HAMVASY was born April 19, 1820 in Szikis Fahervar (Stuhl Walsonberg), Hungary. He was the son of Joseph HAMVASY and Anna Marie TRALKAY. He was an accomplished musician, well educated and served his country well. All this is chronicled in a biography written by his second wife, Laura.

When he was about 21 years old he married Pauline NAGY. They had one child:

He left Hungary very hurriedly when his life was endangered and arrived in New York about 1850. After living there awhile he moved on to Kentucky where he divorced Pauline after she refused to come to the US. After a time of tutoring in Louisiana, he went to Austin where he became a Christian and began to study for the ministry. He was ordained in 1872 by the Episcopal Church and shortly thereafter went to Tyler, Texas where he founded the Christ Episcopal Church.

On the 3 March 1874, Smith Co, Texas, he married Laura A. PAULSON HADEN, the widow of Richard M. HADEN. She was born 15 September 1850 in Tennessee, the daughter of George PAULSON and Mary Lucinda ADAMS. Children of Emer and Laura:
