Pfc. Ernest Arnold, son of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Arnold, husband of former Francis Woodie. Entered Army Air Force in April, 1943, trained at Camp Wolters, Ft. Bliss, Love Field, Texas; Mather Field, Fla., Kearns, Utah and Miami Beach, Fla.

ARNOLD, RAYMOND W.
Ist Sgt. Raymond W. Arnold, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lon Arnold, husband of former Viola Weiss, attended Tyler H.S. Entered Army in 1935, trained at Madison Bks., N.Y., Ft. Jackson, S. Carolina, Desert Training Center, Cal. Served in Ireland, England, France, Luxembourg, Belgium and Germany. Has Good Conduct Medal, PrePearl Harbor Ribbon, one Bronze Star and ETO Ribbon with five Stars.

ARNOLD, J. C.
S 1/c J. C. Arnold, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lon Arnold, husband of Louise McElvarey. Entered the Navy in 1944, trained in San Diego. Served in the Pacific.

ARNOLD, ARTHUR D., JR.
SK 1/c Arthur D. Arnold, Jr., son of Mr. A. D. Arnold Sr Tyler husband of former Donna Tuttle, attended Tyler H.S. and Federal Inst. Entered Navy in 1942, trained In. San Diego. Served on Iwo Jima. Okinawa and Japan. Has two Battle Stars. Discharged In 1945.

ARONOFF, ABNER J.
Ist Lt. Abner J. Aronoff. son of Mr. and Mrs. Barney Aronoff, Dallas, attended Forest H.S. and Texas Univ. Entered Army in 1942, trained at Sheppard Field, Texas and Ft. Sill, Okla.; also Ft. Meade, Md. Served in Germany.

ARVIN, EDMOND T., JR.
Capt. Edmond T. Arvin, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Arvin, Sr., husband of Patricia Clark. Entered Army Air Corps in Jan., 1942, trained at Randolph Field, Kelly Field and El Reno, Okla. Served on Guam. Has Air Medal, two Clusters, Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with two Battle Stars and DFC. Discharged in 1945.

ASHBY, RUDOLPH W.
Pvt. Rudolph W. Ashby, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Ashby, attended school at Arp H.S. Entered the service in Feb., 1944, trained at Kessler Field, Miss. and Scott Field.

ASHCRAFT, HUBERT T.
T/5 Hubert T. Ashcraft, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Ashcraft, Lindale, husband of former Juanita Wallace, Lindale. Entered Army in Jan., 1942. trained at Camp Wolters, Texas and in Mississippi. Served in Africa, Sicily and Germanv. Awarded the EAME Campaign Ribbon with three Battle Stars.

ASHCRAFT, CHAS. D.
Sgt. Chas. D. Asheraft, son of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Ashcraft. Entered the Army in Jan., 1943, trained in Kansas and Tennessee. Served in New Guinea, East Indies and Philippines.

ASHLEY, H. D.
J. D. Ashley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ashley, attended Van Schools. Entered the Navy in June, 1944, trained in San Diego. Wounded while in training in California, was in hospital in Banning, Cal.

ATEN, FLOYD, JR.
Sgt. Floyd Aten, Jr., son of Rev. and Mrs. Floyd E. Aten, Tyler. Entered service in April, 1948 trained at Camp Wolters and White Rock. Served at Newspaperman in Honolulu, Saipan,and Anger.

ATEN, FRANK N.
1st Lt. Frank N. Aten, son of Rev. and Mrs. Floyd E. Aten. Entered service Aug., 1931, trained at Ft. Sam Houston, Ft. Sill, Okla. Served in N. Africa, Italy, Germany, Poland, Russia and Egypt. Taken prisoner by Italians, imprisoned in Italy. Escaped; captured by Germans and transported to Germany, then Poland, where imprisoned 23 months. Wears the Silver Star.

ATLAS, RAPHAEL D.
Pfc. Raphael D. Atlas, son of Rabbi and Mrs. Elias Atlas, Tyler, attended H. S. in Shreveport, La. Entered Air Corps, Dec., 1942, trained at, Camp Maxey, Texas and Salt Lake City, Utah. Served in le Shima, Aleutians.

ATWOOD, ROY J.
S/Sgt. Roy J. Atwood, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Atwood, Tyler, attended Tyler Schools. Entered the Army March, 1941. Trained at Edgewood Arcenal, Ma. Served in New Zealand, Fiji Island; Guadalcanal, Bougainville, Philippines, and Luzon. Awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, AD, and Philippine Liberation Ribbon, one Bronze Star. Discharged in May, 1946.

ATWOOD, CARL W.
CM 3/c Carl W. Atwood, son of Mr. and Mrs, Gordon Atwood, Tyler, attended Tyler Schools. Entered Navy Seabees March, 1944, trained at Farragut, Idaho.

AVEN, M. S., JR.
S/Sgt. M. G. Aven, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Aven, Sr.; wife, the former Dorothy Starling. Entered Air Corps, 1943, trained at Kesler Field, Min.,. Lowery Field, Denver, Colo., and Dalhart, Tex. Served in England, waist-gunner on B-17. Killed in Action over Berlin, March, 1944. Posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and Congressional Medal of Honor.
