CARPENTER, TRUMAN DUANE
Cpl. Truman Duane Carpenter, son of Marion Carpenter, attended school at Arp. Entered the service in Aug., 1940, trained at Ft. McIntosh, Laredo, Texas and Ft. Benning, Ga. Served in Australia.

CARPENTER, TURNER RANDALL
S 1/c Turner Randall Carpenter, son of Marion Carpenter, attended school at Arp. Entered the service in Jan., 1944, trained in San Diego. Served in the Philippines, Okinawa and Japan. Received Letter of Commendation from Commanding Officer of USS Oak Hill (LS D-7) for participation in Battle of Okinawa.

CARPENTER, KENNETH M.
Pfc. Kenneth Marion Carpenter attended school at Arp and Dallas, Texas. Entered the Marines in Nov., 1943, trained in San Diego. Served in the Pacific, Hawaii, Roi, Tinian and Saipan. Has the Purple Heart. Wounded in the Battle of Saipan in June, 1944.

CARRELL, DEANS
S 2/c Dean Carrell, son of Mr. and Mrs. I. A. Carrell, attended Pine Springs and Tyler H.S. Entered Navy in in Sept., 1944, trained in San Diego. Served on Battleship Nevada on Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Awarded Purple Heart and other honors.

CARROLL, JOHN
Y 3/c John Carroll, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Carroll, husband of Angeline Janecek, attended Tyler School. Entered the service in June, 1944, trained at Great Lakes, Ill. and Norfolk, Va.

CARROLL, MILTON H.
Cpl. Milton H. Carroll, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Carroll, attended school in Tyler. Entered the Army in May, 1938, trained at Ft. Bliss, Ft. Clark, Texas and in San Francisco, Cal. Served on New Guinea.

CARROLL, EARL J.
Coxswain Earl J. Carroll, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Carroll, attended school in Tyler. Entered the service in March, 1944, trained in San Diego. Served in Pearl Harbor, Okinawa, Iwo Jima and Japan.

CARRUTHERS, GEORGE C.
Lt. George C. Carruthers, son of Mrs. C. T. Carruthers. Entered service in July, 1942, trained at Randolph Field, Ellington Field, Texas; Eldrado AAF, N. M. and Walla Walla, Wash. Served in England, taken prisoner in France by the Germans. Awarded Purple Heart, three Bronze Stars and Air Medal.

CARTER, WILLIE C.
Capt. Willie C. Carter, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. C. C. Carter, Flint, husband of former Blanche Talley. Entered Army Air Corps in 1936, trained in San Antonio, Lowry Field, Colo. and in Hawaii.

CARTER, PRESTON H.
S 1/c Preston H. Carter, son of Armel Carter, graduated from Tyler H.S. Entered Navy in March, 1944, trained in San Diego. Served in Hawaii, on Marshalls, Marianas, Gilberts, Philippines, Okinawa and Iwo Jima.

M/Sgt. Geo. H. Carter, son of George Carter, husband of former Ilona Grosman. Entered Army in 1942, trained at Camp Wolters, Camp Claiborne, La.; Camp Rucker, Ala. and Ft. Pierce, Fla.; served in Normandy, France, Holland, Belgium, Germany. Awarded EAME Campaign four Bronze Stars, Bronze Arrowhead, Good Cond. Medal, Purple Heart. Pres. Citation and Infantry Badge.

CARTER, DOUGLAS G.
Lieut. Douglas G. Carter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry L. Carter, graduated from Tyler H. S., and Junior College. Entered Navy in 1942, trained at Hensley Field, Corpus Christi, Norfolk, Va.; served in Tropical Belt.

CARTER, BENDELL C.
PO 1/c Bendell C. Carter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry L. Carter, husband of Mary Stringer. Entered Navy in 1943, trained at Camp Peary, Va.; Joilet, Ill., Davisville, R. I. and McAlester, Okla.; served in New Guinea, Samar, Clicoan and Philippines. Awarded three Campaign Ribbons.

CARTER, HOWARD L.
Pvt. Howard L. Carter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry L. Carter, husband of Telen Louise Apperson. Entered the Army Air Corps in February, 1943, trained at Sheppard Field, Texas, North Field, Minn., Jefferson Barracks, Mo., and Scott Field, IIl.

CARTER, JESSE
CM 3/c Jesse Carter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Carter, attended Tyler Schools. Entered the Navy in June, 1942, trained in San Diego; served in the South Pacific and on Okinawa. Awarded Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon with seven Battle Stars.

CARTER, FRANCIS F.
Pfc. Francis F. Carter, son of Col. and Mrs. Roy A. Carter, Ft. Bragg, N. C. Entered service in July, 1944, trained with Infantry at Camp Fannin, Texas, Camp Shelby, Miss.; served in France, Germany, Austria.

CARTER, ROY A.
Col. Roy A. Carter, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Carter, Flint, husband of former Florence Coates. Entered Army in 1917; served with Field Artillery at Leon Springs; Inf. School and Field Artillery School; served in Nicaragua. 1912, France, Germany, 1917-1918, Hawaii, 1933-36.

CARTER, ROY A.
Lt. Roy A. Carter, Jr., son of Col. and Mrs. Roy A. Carter, Ft. Bragg, N. C. Entered service in 1943, trained with Field Artillery at A&M and F. A., RTC and OSC, Ft. Sill, Okla.; served on Okinawa and Tokyo, Japan.

CARTER, DOROTHY J.
Lt. Dorothy Jane Carter, daughter of Col. and Mrs. Roy A. Carter, Ft. Bragg, N. C. Entered service in 1941, trained with Army Nurse Corps at Santa Rosa Hosp., San Antonio, Texas; served in Hawaii.

CARTER, PRICE B.
Pfc. Price B. Carter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Carter, Tyler. Entered service in 1940, trained at Ft. Bliss and Ft. Clark, Texas; served in New Caledonia, Australia, New Guinea. Awarded A-P Campaign Medal, 2 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct and Amer. Defense Service Medals.
