Home of Sir William Stroud (1589-1666)

Purchased the Mansion in 1625-27. He was a member of Parliament from Ilchester - member of Long Parliament - 1640. He married Joan Barnard; had six sons; four daughters. Among the sons was Barnard, whose son, also named Barnard came to America as a child. His son John, first generation born in America, fought in American Revolution. He is the ancestor whose record was used by Alma Moore Freeland to become a member of DAR and DAC.
