| Alma Leta MOORE was the daughter of John R. MOORE and Lola Ann HILL. Her sister Mae MOORE CAMPBELL has written this about her sister:
"My sister, Alma, was born June 2, 1904 in Troup, Texas. She graduated from Tyler High School in 1923; received the B.A. Degree from Texas Technological College, the M.A. Degree from Columbia University, The Doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin; course work was done at Columbia. Her teaching career extended from 1924 through 1969; was done in Starrville, Tyler Public Schools, University of Colorado, University of Wisconsin and the University of Texas at Austin. Her professional writing included co-authorship with her husband on the New Frontier Social Science Series (Schribners) and her own Reading Caravan Series (D. C. Heath). She returned to Tyler in 1978 to spend her retirement years with her family." "She married Dr. George Earl Freeland on June 1, 1937 in New York City. He was an educator and author of many books for teachers and children. He died June 25, 1944 in Sacramento, California. They had no children." |

| She was a public school teacher and principal in many Texas schools as well as being the public school supervisor and assistant superintendent for Tyler Public Schools. She was state consultant for elementary education for the state of Texas. She was a professor at the University of Texas in Austin where she retired in 1969. After retirement she was named professor emeritus at the University. She moved to Tyler in 1978 and spent most of her time in family research until her death 4 January 1991. A trip to Barrington Court in England, ancestral home of the Strouds, was one of her genealogical trips.
Alma made her profession of Faith at First Baptist Church, Tyler, where her family was active for many years. At her death she was an active member of Green Acres Baptist Church, Tyler. She was a member in the Delta Kappa Gamma Women Teachers, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of American Colonists, United Daughters of the Confederacy, and Pi Lamda Theta.. She was also listed in Who's Who In American Education, Who's Who of American Women, Texas Women of Distinction, and Who's Who World Biography. She is remembered by her family and friends as a devout Christian, a caring relative and friend, and a great family historian.
